New Book! A Mango Shaped Space

The book starts with a girl who is called Mia, she is around 13 years old, she starts the story by remembering when she was in third grade, the day when she discovered she had a condition called synesthesia. Synesthesia is a brain condition that makes you connect or mix senses, in Mia´s case she connects words, numbers and letters to different colors, so for her each number had it´s color. Mia kept this synesthesia problem a secret till she was already thirteen. Then the book continues with Mia living her summer vacations with her best friend Jenna. Mia explains how she can see colors on names and compares them to objects. Mia has a cat name Mango.

How the synesthesia brain works

"Were they also going to tell me that letters and sounds didn't have colors? That the letter a wasn't yellow like a faded sunflower (...)" (Mass 4).
I think this quote is good to explain how incompressible is people towards people that see the world in a different way or perspective. Sometimes normal people aren't able to understand what is different. People sometimes fear whet is unknown and different because they don´t want to change, they want to stay the same.
"I call out his name and hear a faraway, orange-soda-colored meow in response (Mass 17).
Mia can also se colors on sounds and phrases, how would we see the world if we would have synesthesia?

Normal people see like this       people with synesthesia see it like this

Is synesthesia really a problem for the people that have it or is it normal for them? People with synesthesia condition are able differentiate things easier, because they can even feel words or see color in what we consider black and white. I made some research on this condition known as synesthesia, people that have it can even feel, taste or see a word including names, they can even see sounds. i find interesting how colorful could a persons mid could be if they have synesthesia. People that have these condition is able to see the world different?
